Glasgow’s Secret Cat Guardians: The Annan Gallery Mystery

Our "Stone Safari" series continues its journey, inviting you to discover the hidden narratives etched into Glasgow’s architectural fabric. This time, we turn our gaze to the intriguing 164 Woodlands Road, home to a pair of stone cats that have captivated locals and visitors alike.

A digger, a dome, and the ever evolving city

Posting on Instagram the day after the Union St fire, artist Will Knight pointed out a small dot on his Knight map- it was the dome that had been destroyed in the blaze. For us, it prompted the realisation that the Knight map, just like its Sulman predecessor, was becoming a record of Glasgow's lost buildings..

Thomas Sulman was an English architectural draftsman. He studied at The Working Men’s College between 1854 and 1858, where he was a student of, and later an engraver for, Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
